Scion of a House thought extinct since the civil war, young Rainier d'Ivernesse appeared in Glantri City nearly two decades ago and laid claim to his family's not inconsiderable assets. He earned a reputation as temperamental, judgmental, and borderline irrational at the best of times, and appeared to prefer the company of goblins to humans. But he was well-regarded by others because his newness to the Glantrian political scene meant that was not entangled in the realm's politics.
Rainier returned to the Ghost Tower with his tutor, the goblin Alphonse Bluelip, and a party of men-at-arms with the stated intent of reclaiming the tower for his family. There he doted on his sister Janette and his firstborn son, Rainier II.
Today he is a reclusive figure. He rarely leaves Morlay, appearing only occasionally at important social events or for events involving his three children.
