Just gauging interest. I've begun the slow process of reading and absorbing Mindjammer, after which (in that no doubt far-off day) I have every intention of attempting a one-shot and I really mean it this time. When that happens, would there be any interest, or have I used up all credibility by now?
I'm less concerned that it won't happen than I am that it's Fate Core. Haven't cared for that system the few times I've played it. Though as with most games my least favorite part was character creation, so if you're talking about pregens as is usual with most one-shots, I'm ready to look at it again.
I should also point out that the setting, characters, GM, and players far outweigh the system in any event. So it really depends more on the game setting than the rules for me, in most cases.
I support Fred and will follow him into the gates of Hell, or, Mindjammer, whichever comes first.
(Fred, let's make sure Mindjammer comes first.)
Fred, as long as I don't have the know the rules too well, everything's cool.
Makes it easier for me to fudge, so that's fine by me. One reason I never took the dive into DMing B/X is that everybody (else) knows the charts backwards and forwards, and thirty years of looking this stuff over still hasn't implanted it in my head.
Book finally arrived, and I'm about 80 pages in. I must say, Fate seems quite Gamist; unlike many older RPGs, it looks like a basic awareness of the actual rules structure is kind of unavoidable for players. (Sorry, James.). Still going to try to go for it, since overall Mindjammer seems to be trying to be the space game I always wanted, but I admit to nervousness.
Fred, I have a little bit of experience with Fate so I might be able to do okay. Hope you're enjoying the project!
Well, at least that pretty much guarantees I'll have you involved when it happens! (Speaking of, is Dan Castillo still on this board?)
Gonna be awhile; this is a 500-page monster and I'm effectively trying to learn Fate in bite-sized chunks. Which is actually good, since I've had a cough for weeks and it steadfastly refuses to leave.
