A note that I've probably been running this a bit too strictly. If you're a thief, you should be able to simply fade into the shadows on a successful roll even if you were in plain sight. (Possibly not if someone is explicitly watching you specifically, but that's not often going to be an issue.) This takes one round.

Awesome! Just for clarification, would the Thief or the DM make the HIS roll? That is, would the thief know if he is successful in hiding in shadows?
