Interesting bit of research here. In sum: when archaeologists at Viking burial site stopped assuming anyone buried with sword and shield was a man, and actually evaluated the bones to determine sex, they found almost half were women.
This supports the game device of rolling a d6 to determine if NPCs encountered are male/female. We should continue to see at least half the petty lords populating the world of the White Box, Ran Lithby, Glantri, etc. are actually petty ladies.
