I Declare War on the Beast Lord

Here is a thread for crazy strategies to take out the Beast Lord once and for all. I hate that guy! Let's kill him!

The Beast Lord's known assets:

• Is a Beast Lord
• Has many Best Men, including Gnolls and Minotaurs. Presumably troops number in the several dozens if not more.
• Can summon at least one Water Elemental per day. Elementals can only be damaged by magic or magic weapons.
• Can scry on us, observing what we're up to in advance
• (apparently the water elemental thing, and the scrying thing, are both functions of the same magical item, a bowl of some kind with water in it.)
• Lives far, far underground with (so far as we know) only two points of access: the tele-portal in the Temple of Athena, and the pit near the Lizard King's altar
• Presumably has enough men, supplies, food, etc. down there to live comfortably for many years, so a siege is straight out
• Has alliances with various critters in the upper levels, though I can't remember who's who now. I believe the Lizard Folk reluctantly make offerings to the Beast Lord.

I think we have a mole - if by "mole" you mean, giant armored man-eating levitating worm monster. Chrystos bought one in Limbo recently, and my guy speaks the monster's language. The trouble is, it's really really slow. But it would be pretty surprising!

• I believe the scrying bowl and the bowl of summoning water elementals are two different items.
• We have one scroll with the spell Invisible Stalker, and our frienemy Philomena seems to know that spell also. We've thought about sending stalkers to steal/destroy/hide the bowls. Philomena's payment for this would be the item itself if stolen. I think we should try to do this in this thread. If we can successfully steal/nullify these assets of the Beast Lord, our plans will be very different.

whether or not that plan is successful, i'm thinking all out assault is the way to go.

I don't recall if we did it in-game or in the forums, but I believe we asked Ontussa specifically about these items, how many and what they did.

That was my first instinct as well, but I think they have sunlight (or the equivalent) and vegetation. So presumably agriculture.

If we could extinguish their sun, that would be something where sealing them in would get results. Can we get someone to cast a whole bunch of continual darkness spells?

(OMG the idea of Maldoor and Arnold, floating down from the pit-entrance, hand-walking on the ceiling of the cavern, and then extinguishing the sun would be METAL.)

Wasn't it bad enough when only John Fighter was 90 years old? Having the whole party be staving off the signs of encroaching mortality would be hitting too close to home in ways I don't expect you to understand, Chris…
