I've been out of the Red Box loop for quite some time, but I'll soon have a week in Brooklyn, between the 24th and 30th, when I would be available for a brief return to play. Unfortunately it looks like nothing's on tap for that week, however I've been poking around with something of my own I might like to offer.
I recall James once saying he'd like to try some old-fashioned miniatures war-gaming, since that seems a big unspoken part of the original D&D experience. I don't know if that was followed up on, but recently I've been looking into mini gaming myself, and that lead me to the Rules According to Ral. In the early 80's miniatures-maker Ral Partha distributed this free and easy system for medieval battles. Ral Partha successor Iron Winds Metals still offers the same system under the title Iron Winds of War. Its incredibly brief, all of three pages, but seems eminently playableand fun and I'd like to give it a try. I don't have any actual mini's (certainly not in the numbers needed for a full army) but I think cards would serve just as well. Any takers?
