Thanks, Eric :)
I've run a couple of sessions and it's going quite well. I wanted something that
- is very fast
- articulates with any pre-3E material
- hits AD&D expectations (Paladins, Bards, Assassins, etc.)
- addresses some of my pet peeves like languages
- could be toggled between old-school slaughter and middle-school baby-epic
and it took only seven editions to do! It still leans pretty heavily on "stunt" and "save" rolls, but that's partly my bad GM habits of going to the dice without thinking enough.
I'm especially proud of the defined rules on Meetings — reactions, morale, and followers.
Now that I've finished GGG Traveller, I'm going to try to sucker Red Boxers into playing a few sessions on the Savage Frontier (toggled to old-school slaughter). Hope you can make it!
