I'm going to be a playtester for the new 4E-based edition of Metamorphosis Alpha, which is a strong contender for the first-ever SF RPG, and I'd love to try it out with y'all!
I'm thinking of doing this as a weekly game using a traditional campaign structure (players will have to sign confidentiality agreements to see the rules, character generation will likely be somewhat involved, and it'd be great to get feedback, all of which suggest a more commitment-based mode of play than our usual just-in-time scheduling). Since two of my goals are to get some first-hand experience with the original MA (I've only played its descendant, Gamma World) and to test out how the new MA classes stack up against the vanilla 4E ones, here's what I'm thinking about:
One or two of our initial sessions will be played aboard the Starship Warden using the original rules. Another one or two will be played in the steaming jungles of Oerth, using AD&D rules. We'll then invoke some warps in the space-time continuum to convert both sets of characters to 4E and play out their further explorations of the many strange levels of the doomed starship. I'll gladly assume the mantle of Referee, but would also be happy to trade that responsibility around so that I could try being a player as well.
Interest and availability?
