Hi New York Red Box and fellow travellers,
I played some in high school and after college with a few friends. Am 35 now. Very attracted to pre-2E D&D of all types, though it doesn't absolutely have to be pre-2E. I love the feel of the 80s books especially. I haven't really played at a table in a few years and haven't played D&D or any clone in longer than that. Am married, and my wife is completely unfamiliar with RPG culture — in fact, pretty unfamiliar with conventions of western fantasy in general. My copy of the RC rests peacefully under my socks.
I play nicely and mostly enjoy the "shared world / fantasy" aspect of RPGing — problem-solving is cool, character development is cool, combat is fine and can be fun but isn't usually my focus. I'm not at all into the ugly stuff warned about in the Coolness policy. I think I can get along at the table with just about anyone.
I would love to earn a seat at a one-shot adventure held around here — or even to sit in on an existing campaign, if that ever happens. Would be cool to meet some of you from around here and enjoy the coolest game that I know of. Thanks so much!
John
