Hi Redboxers, I'll be in town next week getting ready for a solo exhibit I'm having at Mulherin + Pollard in the LES. My work is somewhat D&Dish, and there's another exhibit of work in the gallery's side room that is also somewhat D&Dish, though I don't know if the other artist is/was a gamer or not. If you're around and want to see some art on Friday night, the reception will be from 6-9pm. I'd love to see you there (and I'm flying in from Qatar to be there)!

and aww crap, I'm a low-karma user so I'm not allowed to publish links. Google Mulherin + Pollard to look up info about the gallery and the two exhibits opening next friday. You can google my name 'Ryan Browning' to see my artwork.

See you around.
Ryan

That's okay by me, my other game asked to move to Thursday this week anyway.

One request though, can we move further scheduling for Lords of Creation in particular back to its own thread? I mean, since it already has one. :-)

Not a problem.

I actually came to the conclusion that I am going to have to reschedule this for next month- someone on my team is out for an early paternity leave, so things got messy in terms of projects I am dealing with.

Apologies,

Apologies, but looking at my week right now I think playing hooky is not possible anymore. My absence from the office might trigger the angry villager rule. Or worse yet, a permanent availability to play during the week.

I do wonder why we get vacation days when there is never a good time to use them.

I do hope this does not throw off the tally : (

Well the house is sort of a megadungeon, which multiple delves to really start to pay off. Since I don't know when I can run LoC again, I wanted to do something more regular adventurish, with a more immediate payoff.

I am thinking noon-ish. B&B sounds good. So I guess that is a plan.

Also, I made some final tweaks to the Lords of Creation booklet on Lulu. (just fixed some nagging typos and run on sentences.)

I am going to go with a slightly different approach- I am not getting rid of the mysterious house, but I want to run something a little more one shot for the 9th.

So far anytime on the 9th is fine, but we should change the title thread to January, or at least Winter.

I prefer B&B if its a weekday.

Is it continuing with the mysterious house of the last game?

Yep, I have read everything published for LoC, and I think it is up to the GM's campaign frame to explain WHY it happens. Really though, there is a strong element of old school Doctor Who to the game's assumptions- where the PCs are the only consistent thing, and the rules of the universe keep changing from week to week. A mechanic like the Tardis or the Map from Time Bandits can exist to explaining how the party keeps changing setting- but nothing is proscribed in the rules- just implied that it is up to the GM to come up with. Really Moldvay seems the be giving more of a toolbox of his house rules for reality hopping games.

As the PCs level up, in addition to the powers they select, they also gain a specific ability at each level. Which with the exception of improved healing, the rules explicitly state exist so the GM's benefit so he can give plot hooks.

I good idea of what I am going to do for the game- and we'll roll up characters at the table. So what time on the 9th should we meet? also, Should we do Cafe 28, or Bread & Butter?

Could Lords of Creation really be picking up steam? I'm in if it happens.

If I had played it when it came out I might have wondered why they didn't explain why the characters accrued this power (assuming they didn't, I don't think so). Now I appreciate their leaving it up to the GM.

Tentative as always, but I'd still like a chance to try LoC, if only to figure out why PCs gradually gain the power to create worlds and whatnot. I seem to remember skinning the rulebook years ago and finding no in-story reason, they just *did*.
