Barbarians are are lightly armored warriors from the savage borders of civilization– picts, amazons, savages and natives. While the Barbarian lacks the heavy armor of a traditional fighting man, she makes up for this with her improved mobility and catlike reflexes.

RESTRICTIONS: Barbarians use eight-sided dice (d8) to determine their hit points. Barbarians may wield any type of weapon or shield, but will may not wear armor of any type. The prime requisite for a Barbarian is Strength. A barbarian character whose Strength is 13 or higher will receive a 5% bonus on earned experience. A barbarian whose Strength is 15 or higher will receive a 10% bonus to earned experience. The Barbarian must have a minimum score of 11 in Strength.

SPECIAL ABILITIES: Barbarians derive no benefit from wearing armor, even magical. Due to their hardy nature and warlike culture, Barbarians develop an innate ability to block and evade blows more effectively than normal men, even when wearing the sparest of furs. The Barbarian's default armor class is 7, this increases to 5 at level 4, and to 3 at level 8. Barbarians receive a +1 to initiative, and move 10'/round faster than normal men.
