Plans, carouses, stories and complaints below.
Ebrard sits against a tree with a heaving sigh, Reagna settled beside him. For all their ferocity in the goblin camp, there is something sad in the aspect of these two hulking figures in the forest. The brighter light of the high hills wafts through the trees, highlighting the grey in both their coats. They seem very distant from the party's arguments. Even Wintergreen hesitates to frolic.
They were, as we dispersed, still bound and sleeping, excepting the unfortunate mauled by a bear and the tree-borne archers who have disappeared.
At the end of the session, Pritchard Hood had cast read languages and begun to examine the book on the spot.
The bear follows Ebrard, and Ebrard is no longer in a fighting rage. He laments that in his youth, he had been able to maintain a delicate balance- putting down dangerous and rabid animals in the foothills and forests, shepherding even hungry bears away from roaming into the vineyards and township. Now he is older, and things seem impossible to control: His authority is undermined, these goblins have commandeered a watering hole and some increasingly rare fertile ground where the hills give way to the mountains, the frightening creatures loose in his woods (he gestures in the direction of your fight with the dwarf-thing), the bears growing bolder as they press towards Malinbois and Eastkeep… In simpler times, he might have accompanied the party back to Malinbois, but he is afraid for Reagna now.
Perhaps we can reveal the contents of the book in more detail here on the forum/wiki and base our decision on the contents? Presumable we'd retire to our previous campsite or a similarly secure area to avoid goblins with the morning grumpies.
I was more concerned with the bear continuing to maul the goblins than actually following us around, so we're cool.
We trussed the non-sleeping ones. When the others wake up they can free the rest. That's why I bola'd them. I didn't want them escaping because there was no need to get lost.
I think this is precisely what we should do.
I began a description on the session summary page, and (I don't think I'm speaking out of turn) Pritchard Hood will have things to say regarding its contents.
Certainly; let's assume that is where Pritchard began his studies of the Codex. It sounds like Greengoat will be at the concluding (he said confidently) session. Depending on which character he intends to play and what you all intend to do next, I can suggest some ways he might find you. In the meantime, I'll assume that the party, with Gildor and a now-distant Ebrard, has repaired to the previous night's campsite.
Pritchard, upon some perusal of the Codex, says:
Assuming you are taking up this well-considered plan, how might you find the temple? Or should there just be a cosmic ellipsis?
With an arched eyebrow and pursed lip, martin listens to Prichard's reasonable and well thought out analysis. Finding it insightful, and quite Bossly, the Black Swashbuckler will suggest possible courses of action…
Since we still have the dogs I say we track the smell of the sludgy stuff the dwarf was exuding. I believe Ja'tubis collected some in a bottle.
I doubt we'd receive a warm reception if we returned to the goblin camp—and I'm very worried about the goblin archers who watched our glorious victory without getting involved. I think there may be multiple goblin bands, and if we prove to be goblin antagonists we may be in trouble.
Also, please keep in mind that Goldfinch already took his leave of us and rode home.
